Update 1.1.0


After almost a month of work (although mostly not work), here's a new release of No Downforce!

Track

  • Redesigned the track! The layout is the same, but the border from the bottom is now thicker, which helped prevent lightmap leaks (some pixels on slopes being too bright), and the track itself is now divided into smaller parts, allowing for higher-resolution lightmaps
  • Added a glowing checkerboard pattern to the start/finish section. It bounces off quite nicely against the walls!

Graphics

  • Changed tonemapping from ACES to AgX! This made the picture nicer to look at, I think. At least it doesn't burn my eyes out as much anymore!
  • Increased overall brightness of the graphics to take advantage of AgX's better handling of bright areas
  • Increased samples on lightmaps, making them much less noisy
  • Added Screen Space Indirect Lighting (SSIL) for some extra detail to global illumination
  • Made the ghost more visible
  • Increased fog density in the lower parts of the track
  • Increased resolution of the loading screen and adjusted its logo

Audio

  • Converted most sounds from OGG to WAV. The sound processing should use less CPU now, which is especially imported in the web version
  • Added a tire rolling sound when the car is moving

Technical

  • Updated engine to Godot 4.4 beta 3
  • Added experimental ARM builds. Please leave comments below if you're on an ARM device (like Raspberry Pi, Apple Silicon Macs (with Asahi Linux installed, no Mac version yet) or Snapdragon-powered laptops) and have issues with the build
